MicGro Deep Water Reactor (PATENT PENDING)

The MicGro Deep Water Reactor harnesses photosynthesis to grow algae, capture CO2 and produces high-energy biomass. The design incorporates a process that provides efficiency savings compared with existing designs, and controls microalgae growth.  The reactor design can be easily retrofitted to fossil-fired power plants and other sources of carbon dioxide. The MicGro Reactor is the most optimal closed or open bioreactor design that allows for complete control over algal growth by maintaining optimal Process Capability. The nutrient levels, CO2 addition rates, algal growth rates, light and ORP levels are maintained in equilibrium throughout the reactor.

MICGRO PROCESS    (PATENT PENDING)

The combination of these technologies comprises the MicGroTM Process. This Process  harnesses photosynthesis to grow algae, capture CO2 , continually harvests high-energy biomass, and extracts the algal oil. The design incorporates a process that provides efficiency savings compared with existing designs, and controls microalgae growth.    Using this process, the biomass from microalgae can be economically converted to petrochemicals, and liquid transportation fuels such as oil and ethanol.

The process steps from the flue gas inlet through to the end of dewatering are comprised of the “front end” and the “downstream” process.  The "front end" includes the microalgae cultivation process. The unit operations for algal harvesting and oil extraction and conversion of the dewatered algae into final fuel products are the "downstream” processing elements.

The technical expertise of our competitors ends at the front end and their downstream processing operators use conventional technologies to harvest and extract the algal oil from the microalgae.  Algae to Energy however, has the benefit of its SHEPHERD HARVESTERTM and Alginator® technology to efficiently harvest and extract the oil on a much more cost efficient basis.
